The Rev. Joan Murray is available to preach or lead educational forums at churches and schools. In these settings she:
- shares about her ministry at Chaplains on the Way,
- teaches a companionship model of chaplaincy, and offers Companionship Training, a program developed by the Rev. Craig Rennebohm, the founder of Mental Health Chaplaincy in Seattle. The training is for people who want to volunteer with Chaplains on the Way or who want to do similar work in their own communities. (See www.mentalhealthchaplain.org for more information about Craig's chaplaincy in Seattle).
- leads book discussions on Souls in the Hands of a Tender God, by Craig Rennebohm with David Paul. The book includes stories of Craig's ministry at Mental Health Chaplaincy in Seattle and explains a companionship model of chaplaincy, which he developed.
- facilitates labyrinth walks at programs for the people Chaplains on the Way serves, such as at the Waltham Community Day Center, as well as at churches, schools and healthcare facilities. She has a block labyrinth kit and can set up a classical labyrinth at your site. It is approximately 30 feet in diameter. She also can bring a 7-circuit Chartres-style canvas labyrinth to any site. This is also about 30 feet in diameter and it belongs to First Presbyterian Church of Waltham and Chaplains on the Way. Pastor Liz Leavitt of First Presbyterian Church and Joan made this labyrinth with help from others, including members of First Presbyterian Church.
